What You Need to Know to Achieve Your Financial Goals

A customer recently asked me a query that went somewhat like this (I've removed their identity):

"Tony, I would really like to ask you a question and hopefully you will provide me a very honest answer."

"I see many different opportunities available everyday via the mail, email, media, promotions, ebooks, etc."

"Tony, I have a family to support and I want you to know that I am a born-again Christian and have a very good personal relationship with Jesus everyday of my life."

I have looked everywhere for a means to provide adequately for my family so that my wife doesn't have to work, and I still haven't found it. In reality, where can I discover the many blessings that God desires for his children? What am I here to accomplish?

My attempt at in-home sales failed to achieve my monthly quota, and I was terminated today. I aim to offer customers high-quality products and services, but I am not one to engage in high-pressure sales tactics. I am in desperate need of a solution! Is it to launch an online store selling goods and services? Your truthful response would be greatly appreciated!

In the end, the question comes down to...

"What can or should I *do* in life to find the financial success I'm seeking for me and my family?"

I get asked this question in some form or another almost daily, and it's a great one.

Wallace D. Wattles, whose magnum opus "The Science of Getting Rich" came to prominence, wrote: in "The Personal Power Course":

You need to have a clear goal in mind. The first step is to select a company. Pick the one that sounds like it would suit your tastes the most and challenge you intellectually. Pick a life's work that you truly enjoy. Do not let yourself be captivated by the notion that you are confined to a job or business that you despise because of other forces, preventing you from pursuing your true passion. Making money isn't success if it means you're stuck doing something you hate instead of what you really want to do. There is no money or success for the man who feels out of place. One of the most important aspects of wealth culture is identifying a job that brings you joy. A slave is someone who is unhappy in their profession.

And the answer is right there...

Making a decision based on your interests is crucial if you want to achieve financial success, however you may define it.

Allow me to explain...

Any career path or business can lead to financial success.

May I restate that...

Any career path or business can lead to financial success.

Are you not convinced?

People have become wealthy in *every* imaginable industry; all you have to do is look around you.

There is no need for additional evidence.

So then...

Why not pick a career path that you enjoy, because it's clear that every firm or occupation can lead to financial success?

Let me explain...

This is usually understood backwards. The proverbial "cart before the horse" was their methodology.

They make the decision to become wealthy and then seek for methods to increase their income without giving any thought to their interests or, more importantly, their dislikes.

Put simply...

They seek for a career path or company to join because of the potential financial gain.

At this point...

This could be useful for a few people.

Having said that...

To be honest, I've never tried it.

Throughout my life, I have been consumed by a relentless pursuit of financial gain. However, I must admit that I have endured nothing but misery and failure in every endeavor involving this motivation.

So then...

Here is my "honest answer"...

To begin with...

Pay no attention to any of the so-called "opportunities" that may present themselves. Whether they're available online or in person, these "opportunities" usually just mean another way for someone else to take your money.

After that...

Find *your* favorite thing to do and sit down.

As a third point...

*Consider* ways to make money doing things you enjoy.

Although you might need to hone some abilities, skills, or talents to make a living doing what you love, or you might have to put your dislikes on pause for a while to earn a living doing what you love...

Last but not least...

If you want to provide for your family financially, doing what you enjoy along with thinking and doing the right thing is the way to go.
